The Ocean Inside (Poem)

She places her feet together, just so.

Straightens her spine while a breath feathers past her lips.

“I’m ready are you?” She asks.

The crowd leans forward unable to hear her words but answering all the same.

Between her legs, she lets lay a polished instrument of wood, metal and magic.

Pulling her bow across the taught strings, she shivers at the vibrations traveling to her core.

The thrill of emotion that washes over her.

This is what she lives for.

It pricks her heart and bleeds her soul out onto the stage.

They watch, they listen, but experience only a drop of the ocean she’s created inside her.
